Refunds and cancellation

How to cancel a kit order, a fabrication job or a competition entry, and what you get back in each case.

Last updated: 1 November 2026

Three different things, three different rules

A boxed kit, a bespoke fabrication job and a competition entry are not the same transaction, and treating them under one refund rule would be either unfair or unaffordable. They are separated below.

1. Kits

This site does not take payments. A kit is ordered by accepting a written quote, and the quote states the cancellation and return terms for that order, including the return window, who pays postage and how a refund is made. Ask for them before you accept.

A kit that arrives faulty or damaged is always ours to put right, at our cost. Tell us as soon as you find it.

2. Fabrication and consultancy

Bespoke work is different in kind. Once material is cut or a design has been produced to your specification, it cannot be resold, so a full refund after work has started is not something we could offer honestly.

The fair structure is a staged one: cancel before work begins and you are refunded in full less any deposit already consumed by design time; cancel during and you pay for what has been done. The deposit, what counts as work started and the rate for work completed are set out in the written quote.

If the delivered part does not meet the agreed tolerance, that is not a cancellation but a remake, at our cost.

3. Competition entry

Entry fees, if there are any, sit against costs that are committed early — venue, judges, materials — so a late withdrawal cannot usually be refunded in full. Any entry terms are published with the event's rules before you register.

If we cancel an event, entrants are made whole.

How to start a cancellation

Until an account system exists, cancellation is by message: use the contact form and pick the topic matching your order, or write to [email protected] quoting your order or entry reference. We will confirm in writing.
